Welcome to the home of PARENTS UNITED

MISSION

The mission of Parents United is to unite families and work together for the wellbeing of our children, school, and community. We also share our needs and look for resources for the community.

VISION

The vision of Parents United is for our children to graduate and continue leading successful communities. We also want our group to grow in other schools.

GROUND RULES FOR PARENTS UNITED MEETINGS

Click here to show/hide list of rules

  • When I participate, I am responsible for:
  • Listening attentively – respecting others when they are speaking.
  • Sharing my own experiences and opinions, not those of other people (using “I,” not “her,” “them,” “we,” or “you”).
  • Not attacking someone if I disagree with their ideas or behavior. Instead of attacking, I will share how they made me feel and what I need from them.
  • Follow the group’s complaint procedure if I have a concern or frustration about something or someone in the group.
  • Participate to the fullest – the community needs to hear my ideas and opinions. However, I will also allow others to participate.
  • Work to understand other people’s points of view, not convince them to think like me.
  • Control my body language and reactions – this can be as disrespectful as words.
  • Respect other people’s privacy after leaving the meeting and in accordance with the group’s code of conduct and confidentiality agreement. I can share my own experience of the meeting, but I cannot share other people’s words or experiences.
  • If I miss a meeting, find out what happened at the meeting. At the same time, accept the decisions that were made in the meetings when I was absent.
  • I also allow the group facilitator to interrupt me if I’m not following one or more of these ground rules to ensure that the meeting is a place where we all feel comfortable sharing.
